Adani reiterates his commitment to Mumbai’s development – ET Infra

Indian billionaire Gautam Adani in his shareholder speech on Tuesday reiterated his commitment towards Mumbai’s development. He said the Navi Mumbai airport project was on schedule and would start its operations by December 2024.

Navi Mumbai International Airport project is proposed to be developed in multiple phases having a total capacity of 60 million passengers per annum. In the initial phase, capacity of 20 million passengers per annum and 800,000 tons per annum of cargo handling capacity is being planned, ET reported earlier. The upcoming airport will address the capacity constraints at Chhatrapati Maharaj International Airport located at Mumbai.

Adani Enterprises manages its airport operations through Adani Airport Holdings, which has a mandate to operate six airports – Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram – as well as Mumbai and greenfield Navi Mumbai International airports.

He also said Adani Transmission Limited (ATL) will take Mumbai to 60 per cent renewable power making making it the first mega city in the world to achieve over 50 per cent power from solar and wind.

On July 15, the Maharashtra government had given the final nod to Adani Group for Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP). As an equity partner of the project, which is spread over 240.35 hectares, the Maharashtra government has allocated Rs 100 crore from the state funds, whereas Adani group will spend ₹400 crore as the project’s chief partner.
