CBI arrests railway officer in UP for taking Rs 3 lakh bribe – ET Infra

LUCKNOW: The Anti-corruption Bureau team of the CBI arrested a principal chief material manager of the North Eastern Railway while accepting Rs 3 lakh bribe on Wednesday.

The CBI also carried out raids at the premises of accused KC Joshi at Noida and Gorakhpur which led to the recovery of Rs 2.61 crore cash.

CBI sources said that the amount recovered could not be accounted for by the accused.

The CBI said that a complaint was made against Joshi, an Indian Railway Stores Service (IRSS) 1988 batch officer by a Gorakhpur-based private firm owner Pranav Tripathi.

Tripathi had alleged that Joshi had demanded Rs 7 Lakh for not cancelling the registration of the complainant’s firm on GeM portal. It was further alleged that the complainant’s firm was supplying trucks to Railways on yearly contract at Rs 80,000 per truck per month.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting Rs 3 lakh bribe from Pranav Tripathi.
