Tata Steel will go ahead with its plan to transition to an electric arc furnace for its operations in the UK, chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran said on Monday. He also discussed capacity additions plans for plants in India. “In the UK we have adopted a clear strategy to transition to a sustainable, and profitable future by exiting the existing end-of-life heavy end assets, both from a decarbonisation perspective and more importantly from a safety perspective,” Chandrasekaran told shareholders at the company’s AGM.
