NEW DELHI: Lieutenant general VK Saxena has approved the transfer of 1.2 acres of land of Irrigation and Flood Control Department (I&FC) to PWD for the construction of an underpass on the Outer Ring Road near Mukarba Chowk. This will include the construction of a road from Badli Junction to Haiderpur Metro Station in North Delhi, Raj Niwas said.
This underpass will ease traffic congestion on the critical junction where the Ring Road and national highway intersect Delhi to Haryana, Punjab and other states.
It is part of the 77 corridors being monitored by LG.
The issue was pending since September last year. Earlier, I&FC department had measured the area as per marking by PWD which comes to around 4,833 sq meters, amounting to a total of 1.2 acres. As per LG’s directions in the last meeting of task force to monitor 77 corridors, the I&FC department had given permission to start work at the site in April 2023 after PWD submitted the alignment and layout plan for the service road.
