Dalmia Bharat blended cement being used in major highway projects – ET Infra

MUMBAI: Blended cement by Dalmia Bharat Ltd is being used in major infrastructure projects including the Union government’s marquee Bharatmala scheme.

Cement blends Dalmia INFRAPRO and Dalmia INFRAGREEN have been introduced by Dalmia Bharat Ltd., one of India’s top cement manufacturers, in connection with important infrastructure projects.

The business has already begun offering solutions to major contractors, including Bharatmala Projects, the East-West Highway corridors, and the largest highway quadrilateral project known as the Golden Triangle, which connects the four major metro cities of India, viz., Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai , and Chennai that has been ongoing for the previous 7–8 years.

Cements that are blended together from two or more elements, at least one of which must be a cementitious ingredient like Portland cement, fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), silica fume, or limestone, are known as blended cements.

“We have the technology as a company which is researching to give better results then the OPC – Ordinary Portland cement (called as ordinary cement) and also will complete projects in less time with the blended cement,” Rajiv Prasad, Senior Executive Director -Sales, Logistics, Technical Services & Marketing, DCBL said.

Furthermore, he continued, “We are switching from using OPC to blended cement in highway projects for pavement quality.” The company wants to push blended cement into significant projects including highways, dams, airports, etc.

The Group has so far provided approx. 8,500 MT of specialty cement for building airport infra in Calicut and Chennai..

Speaking about the carbon emission, Prasad said that the company aims to go green with the introduction of blended cement and is also looking forward to consuming 40 to 60 percent of the water reduction in terms of construction.
The company, which is currently the fastest-growing cement producer in the nation, has a total capacity of 41.1 million tonnes, generated Rs 13,540 cr is revenue crores in revenue, and has a market capitalization of Rs 36,900 billion.

The business began in the south and has since grown to include the east, northeast, and is looking to enter the central region.The Pan- India presence, spread across 10 states with 14 manufacturing units.
