MUMBAI: According to a CII CBRE assessment, Mumbai has a dominant 77 per cent of all India’s tall buildings, which significantly shapes the country’s skyline.

More than 100 tall structures have been seen in Mumbai, while another 90 are under construction. It is anticipated that the city would keep taking the lead in its infrastructure of towering buildings.

With the most tall skyscrapers, Mumbai comes in at number 17 globally and number 14 in Asia.

Among other Indian cities, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Noida account for 8 per cent , 7 per cent, and 5 per cent of the tall buildings in India, respectively. Gurgaon, Bangalore, and Chennai closely follow them, each contributing 1 per cent to the country’s tall building landscape.

The city’s tall buildings attract prices that are higher than those in most other cities, making the construction of such developments there economically feasible. The city’s vertical growth over the years has primarily been caused by a lack of available land and an exponential rise in the urban population.

Speaking specifically about the building industry, Mr Gurjot Bhatia, Managing Director, Project Management, India, Middle East and North Africa, CBRE, said: “Artifical Intelligence (AI) can be very beneficial in the construction industry, when it comes to safety and Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) management.”
